As the title indicates this class is in a heated room, 105 degrees to be exact. It is an appropriate class for beginners to more advanced practitioners. It is a holistic practice, sequencing postures to bring attention to the muscles, ligaments, bones, fascia, internal organs, circulation, lymphatic system, endocrine system, nervous system, skin and breath! Many people who begin a yoga practice may not believe they are strong or flexible enough, or cannot relax and meditate, this is exactly why you would take up this particular practice. The heat offers more supple muscles to aid in flexibility, and the repetition of the same 26 postures builds strength and focus, helping the mind to settle and find inner peace. Book ending the practice with breathing exercises prepares the body and mind for the final Savasana!

Kripalu Flow class begins with centering, to release daily worries and find presence. Attention turns to the breath to focus the mind and benefit from the flow of prana, or energy. Through verbal description and physical demonstration, students are guided in movements with breath that awaken and warm the body. As the body warms, postures become more in-depth and modifications are offered. During each class emphasis is placed on alignment, safety and stability in each pose. Additionally, authentic, heartfelt and humorous insights are offered into the deeper understanding of the yogic practice and how it can affect the mind, body and spirit simultaneously. Each class ends with a savasana, a deep relaxation, where students rest comfortably and find inner quiet.

Vinyasa is the movement of the body through asanas or postures paired with the breath. It invigorates the body, and offers movements our daily lives rarely incorporate. With the intention on the breath leading the flow of the class the postures may vary from class to class, focusing on particular areas of the body and the creativity of the teacher. One day the focus is for hip openers, another day the focus is on detoxifying with spine twists, other times it may offer inversions to feed the brain with fresh oxygen. Come and discover the playful practice of a Vinyasa Flow class.

Vinyasa yoga with Qigong: We begin our class together in an easeful manner rolling softly into a full body flow using Qigong, a longevity practice that brings a fluidity of motion into sequences of a meditative Vinyasa style Yoga. As we connect our breath to graceful movements, we will increase strength, flexibility and peace of mind.

Have you ever wondered why yoga  postures are often named after animals? In part, this was to offer children who think in pictures, a way to learn and enjoy yoga. In India where yoga originated, children are introduced to yoga at a very young age.

Most children love to move! In this class we will go on a guided journey that is playful and educational. The children will encounter different animals and structures learning the shapes of postures along the way! Included will be balancing games, partner yoga, and fun breathing exercise all through the flow of play!

Robin Gucker a long time veteran teacher of Kindergarten and Movement and Games will be the guide for this class. Her goal is to offer opportunities for children to organize their bodies in space, calm their nervous system, playfully engage with their peers, and most importantly have FUN doing Yoga!

We begin with centering and grounding in this combination Yin Yang class.  We then slowly flow to warm up the body and build strength while connecting our breath with movement.

Moving to the floor for our gooey yin practice, we find stillness in each pose, holding the poses for 2-5 minutes each with the support of props, softening our muscles to allow us to reach the deepest layers of our body. Yin Yoga focuses on the connective tissues, ligaments, and joints of the body while helping us find a place of peace and quiet within ourselves.

Recommended props: two blocks, a blanket, and a bolster.
