WITH KIM LECLAIRE

Kim is happy to be offering a series of 4 classes in the Art if Poi Dance.  She will break down the practice to make it easy and accessible for any level of dancer.  It’s a beautiful dance for personal expression, family gatherings, and outdoor festivals.

“In New Zealand, they swing it! “POI” is the Maori word for “ball” on a cord. Many years ago the indigenous Maori people of New Zealand used it to increase their flexibility and strength in their hands and arms as well as improving coordination. Today, the women dancers perform the Maori poi, a dance performed with balls attached to flax strings, swung rhythmically. Men used it for strength and coordination.”

Do you love a great Vinyasa Flow Class or brand new to practicing yoga? As you’re in your vinyasa do you wonder if your alignment is right or how you should position your feet or hands. Truth be told a posture is not exactly the same for each person. We all have different proportions, strengths and tender areas we need to be mindful of. We should practice as the individuals we are!

This practice will break down the postures and you will be given individual cues to refine your postures to support alignment and aid in maintaining healthy habits as you move! We will also look at safe ways to transition and flow from posture to posture.  You are sure to have some Aha moments as we explore together, whether you’re a long time practitioner or new to a yoga practice! All levels of experience welcome!

Woven through the seminar will be information about specific acupoints we can activate, through self-massage or focused attention, to deepen our self-care.
